Chef AI
A cooking app that builds recipes from what you have in mind. You tell it about a dish, and it turns that into a recipe.

The idea
Grandma’s soup. The dish from a TV series. Something people ate in the Middle Ages. For wishes like these there is rarely a recipe that fits exactly.
Chef AI turns that around. You describe what you have in mind, and the app builds the recipe for it. The AI knows the series, the era or the cuisine you are talking about. You don’t have to research anything.
What the app does differently
Almost all the AI cooking apps I looked at start from ingredients: what is in the fridge, and what can be made from it? Chef AI starts from memories, references and wishes.

Interface
On first launch the app asks how you eat, what you don’t eat, how many people you cook for and which topics interest you. Then a voice assistant greets you, and you give it a name yourself.
You find recipes under “Discover”. You save them as favourites and put the ingredients on the shopping list. As an outlook, I planned for the app to connect to smart kitchen devices later.

Campaign
I designed posters for the app. Each one shows a recipe that could come out of Chef AI: muesli with insect protein, omurice, solyanka. The recipes come from ChatGPT, the images from Midjourney. The app and the posters are in German.

I created the street views later with Adobe Firefly.

Looking back
The concept dates from 2023. The app stands or falls with the quality of the recipes the AI delivers. Checking that takes a prototype and tests with real users.
